This piece was a performative gesture inspired by the engineering of systems and infrastructure with in the city. I was interested in the way the modern city environment has been built to allow a person the literally travel around a geographical feature - the Thames River - by going over a bridge then under a tunnel alternatingly along the river. This is part of a continuing exploration of urban infrastructure in which I attempt to subvert the proscribed usage and pathways of the city. The absurdist gesture was enacted in a continuous spiral around the river, during which a video was produced, lasting approximately 3 hrs, 55 min, travelling from Chelsea Bridge to Rotherhithe Tunnel. The piece is shown as the video and the map.
